Meetings:
Meetings
are held on the first Tuesday of each month, at 6:30 PM in
the Room 1 near the Kindergarten playground. Free childcare
is provided.

What is a Parent
Club |
|
The
Vannoy Parent Club is an organization which exists to foster
communication and interaction between the parents and the
students, staff, and community of Vannoy School. We seek in
our activities to enrich and enhance the learning environment
for our children, to educate our parents, to support the principal,
teachers and staff of our school, and to be a positive force
in the Castro Valley community.
Through
various committees and recruitment drives, Parent Club provides
volunteers to serve as room moms and dads, library assistants,
science helpers, computer aides, and art docents. Parents’
also work in the classroom, and help with our new school garden,
disaster preparedness, campus beautification, health and safety,
and physical education. We try at all times to be responsive
to the needs of our school.
To bring
our school community closer together, and to provide fun and
healthy activities for our children, we host a number of special
social events during the school year, with an emphasis on
parents and kids spending quality time together.
Throughout
the year we have a variety of guest speakers at our monthly
meetings, providing education in such diverse areas as student
assessment, parenting skills, health and safety issues, and
ability awareness. Our speakers have included the CVUS Superintendent,
Jim Fitzpatrick, School Board members, educators, financial
advisors, law enforcement officials, and others. We strive
to address your concerns, open your eyes, and broaden your
horizons.
Funds
raised by Parent Club through our ongoing SCRIP sales and
various fund-raisers have provided instructional materials
and supplies, library books, playground equipment, computers
and software, campus improvements, and special experiences
for our students, such as field trips, assemblies, and education
in the arts. Parents, students, teachers, and staff all work
together to identify our funding needs, and to design fundraising
activities that promote our sense of community spirit, as
well as our financial goals.
Membership
in the Vannoy Parent Club is open to all parents or guardians
of Vannoy students, the teachers, administrators, and staff
of Vannoy School, and any other residents of the Vannoy School
attendance area. Parent Club requests a $25.00 membership
fee per family for the school year.
