Everything you want to know about being a freshman at Castro Valley High School!

Freshmen: Class of 2010
As a freshman, you will take six courses all year. You will be programmed into a core of requirements which meet
both graduation and some college requirements. These courses are:
ü Freshman English (full year)
ü Physical Education (full year)
ü Health (one semester)
ü Comparative Cultures and Geography (one semester)
ü Mathematics (full year– the level will be determined by your 8th grade mathematics teacher)
ü Science (full year– the level will be determined by your 8th grade mathematics and science teachers)
You will also choose one elective from the areas of Foreign Language, Vocational Education, Visual and Performing
Arts, or non-departmental courses.

CVHS SUMMER FRESHMAN WORKSHOP APPLICATION
“Get Connected”
Dates: August 7 - 11, 2006
Where: Castro Valley High School
Time: 8am-12pm daily

It is the goal of the high school to provide opportunities for incoming freshman to transition smoothly from middle school and acquire the necessary skills to be successful at Castro Valley High School. The Summer Workshop will expose students to various academic and social expectations in effort to better prepare them for their 9th grade year.

Each day students will be a part of a different workshop. Topics covered will include: Literacy- Reading and Writing for High School, Life Skills, Technology, Organization for High School, & Getting Involved. It is our sincere desire to support your child and help them get off to a great start!

Availability will be on a first come first served basis- Application Deadline April 21, 2006 (Application does not guarantee a spot/Academic credit is not offered for course).

Please turn in the application at your middle school’s main office.
