The PTAs/PTCs face many of
the same problems. By sharing solutions, we can make it
easier on each other. If you have a solution you would
like to share, please email it to (coming @cvparents.org)

From
Proctor PTA
For the 2005-06 school year, Proctor used an on-line
registration process that eliminates many of the forms
and much of the writer’s fatigue. Over 500 students
registered using this system. In fact, most parents
registered on-line from home. For those who couldn’t,
computers were available at the registration site along
with parent coaches for the technology challenged.
By replacing the large number of
forms with a simple data-entry page, the system was much
easier for the parents. Perhaps more importantly, the
school and the PTA benefited greatly. In the traditional
paper registration process, all of the information has
to be re-typed into school databases. The Proctor system
automatically feeds an Access database as parents
register. Thus, the data are captured in electronic
form. Reports can be printed easily. For example,
alphabetized lists of parents with contact information
for the room parents or committee lists for the PTA can
be quickly printed). The lists are accurate and legible
and save paper, staff time, and money.
The program was developed by a
generous and creative Proctor parent, Steve Falzone.
