Schools Are Open:
Please Drive Safely!
On August 28, school officially opens
in Castro Valley. We at CVParents urge everyone to
drive extra carefully in school zones. This is
particularly important during the first few days of
school. Schedules and traffic patterns change.
Children will be excited about getting back to
school and seeing old friends and new teachers. They
may not be as careful as they should be so we need
to be especially careful for them.
Here are a few things you can do to
help us all.
1) Buckle up and be sure your
children are buckled up appropriately too. Remember
California law requires that all children be in a
proper child restraint until they are 6 years of age
or 60 pounds.
2) Children are safer in the
back seat, especially when there is a front
passenger-side air bag.
3) Drive carefully in and around
schools. None of us wants to see a child hurt.
4) Our school parking lots can
be very crowded, and small children can be hard to
see behind vehicles. Use the designated the drop
off/pick up zones
5) Set a good example for other
drivers and your children. Use the crosswalks, and
obey the crossing guards.
Together, we can make the beginning
of school safer for all of our children.
